I attended my friend’s wedding in Okinawa last week.
So I wore New Kimono~~~!!! which my mom gave me.
This design is called “Bingata” and it’s a traditional Okinawan design technique.
I really want to design Kimono someday, but you know, there’re a lot of things / so many years to learn to design its textile!

There’re a lot of meaning about the Kimono.
1.
Left collar must be on top, eventhough you are girls.
if you wear with Right collar on top, to Japanese, it means “You are DEAD!”
2.
Only “Young and single” woman can wear the long sleeve Kimono like in the pic below, it’s called “Furi-sode”
“Furi” means “Swing” and “Sode” means “Sleeve”. When you wear Furisode, you look very gorgeous by swinging the beautiful sleeves & also by showing off your youth!
Then, me! I am wearing “Homongi” it’s can be worn by anyone, even single girls, married woman, young or old.
3.
You need to train to wear Kimono by yourself such as going to school. That is why Japanese usually go to a salon to get worn by skilled person. It’s kind of expensive… maybe about $100…. just to wear.
If you want to rental whole Kimono set, it will cost more than $1500~ depends on the quality.
So I also want to learn how to wear Kimono by myself, so I can wear it in NY too!
